Repair the Unstoppable Error 628

A port disconnects and your computer fails to establish a network connection. Below error appears on your screen:

Error 628: The connection was terminated by the remote computer before it could be completed

Reconnect Network Cables

If you’re using a wired connection, unplug the network cable and then wait for some time. Check whether your network cable is damaged or not. Buy a new cable if the network cable is slightly damaged. Reconnect it to your modem and PC.

Update Network Driver

Most often, network device drivers are listed out as optional updates in Windows Update. If you’re regularly downloading and installing updates, there is little possibility you’ve downloaded them. Here are two ways to get latest updates for your network drivers:

Method # 1: Using Device Manager:

For Windows 8.1/ 8:

  1. Press Windows Key + X, select Device Manager.
  2. This opens up a new window.
  3. Expand the root node — your PC’s name.
  4. Expand Network Adapters node.
  5. Right click the network adapter you use; select Update driver software.
  6. Follow the on-screen wizard. This requires a system reboot as well.

For Windows 7/ Vista:

  1. Click Start; type “Device Manager” and press ENTER.
  2. Refer Steps # 2-6 under Windows 8.1/ 8 user’s section.

Method # 2: Using Windows Update:

For Windows 8.1/ 8:

  1. Press Windows Key + X, select Control Panel.
  2. Click System and Security | Windows Update.
  3. In the new page that opens, click Check for Updates button.
  4. This takes some time. You shall see the list of all available updates including “Optional Updates”. It is under this category your network driver is listed.
  5. Check-up the network driver and start update.

For Windows 7/ Vista:

  1. Click Start; point to All Programs.
  2. Click Windows Update.
  3. Refer Steps # 3-5 under Windows 8.1/ 8 user’s section.

Method # 3: Using Publisher Website:

For Windows 8.1/ 8/ 7/ Vista:

  1. Go to the website of your Internet Service Provider.
  2. Click Downloads/ Drivers section.
  3. Select your operating system, version, OS type (32 bit/ 64 bit) and language.
  4. Start the download. After downloading the file, double click it and follow setup installer.

Temporarily Turn Off Firewall Protection

Sort out glitches and conflicts with Windows Firewall security protection.

For Windows 8.1/ 8:

  1. Press Windows Key + X; choose Control Panel.
  2. Click System and Security icon.
  3. Click Windows Firewall icon.
  4. In the new screen that opens, click “Turn Windows Firewall on or off” link.
  5. Select “Turn off Windows Firewall (not recommended)” under both Private and Public Network Settings categories.
  6. Click OK button.

For Windows 7/ Vista:

  1. Click Start; select Control Panel.
  2. This opens up a new window.
  3. Type “firewall” in Search Box located on upper right corner.
  4. Open “Windows Firewall” from Search Results.
  5. Click “Turn Windows Firewall on or off” link in left panel.
  6. Refer Steps # 5-6 under Windows 8.1/ 8 user’s section.

Clear Browsing History

Your Internet history is corrupted. Deleting the same would fix the problem.

For Internet Explorer:

  1. Press Alt key; click Tools and then select Delete browsing history.
  2. In the new dialog that opens, check-up all checkboxes.
  3. Click Delete.

For Google Chrome:

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete keys simultaneously.
  2. This opens up a new screen.
  3. Select “the beginning of time” option in drop down box.
  4. Check-up all boxes; click Clear Browsing Data button.

For Mozilla Firefox:

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete keys simultaneously.
  2. Select “the beginning of time” under Time Range to Clear drop down box.
  3. Click Details to expand UI.
  4. Check-up all items, click Clear Now button.

For Opera:

  1. Click Opera icon on top left corner of your screen.
  2. Select History from the drop down box.
  3. Click Clear browsing data button.
  4. Click Down arrow.
  5. Select “the beginning of time” from drop down box.
  6. Check-up all checkboxes; click Clear browsing data button.
